Once removed the affected bone and soft tissues require reconstructive measures to preserve function of the affected limb.

In pediatric age group replacement is usually indicated for a select few cases and wherever possible ortho plastic reconstruction with free bone transfer or microsurgical composite tissue transfer gives better long term results.

Often done procedures for management of bone malignancy are

  • Tumor biopsies
  • Free fibula or free bone flap reconstruction
  • Tumor cryoablation
  • Megaprosthetic reconstruction of resected joints.
